Abortions
An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus , resulting in or caused by its death . Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. The term spontaneous abortion, or miscarriage, is used to signify delivery of a nonviable embryo or fetus due to fetal or maternal factors, as opposed to purposely induced abortion. There are many methods of abortion. The procedure used depends largely upon the stage of pregnancy and the size of the unborn child. In 2002, 1.29 million abortions took place, down from 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2002, more than 42 million legal abortions occurred. This report is based on abortion data for 2000 provided to CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division of Reproductive Health. Abortion is called a "choice". If this is true, women should know what they are choosing. The moral and legal aspects of abortion are the subject of intense debate in many parts of the world. Any interruption of human pregnancy prior to the 28th week is known as abortion. Dilation of the uterus is required in cervical methods of abortion. The usual method of dilation is to insert a series of instruments of increasing size into the cervix. The vast majority of teenage pregnancies are unintended, and close to half of those unintended pregnancies (45 percent) end in an abortion. One out of six women in this country have had abortions. Many times, they were not told about the procedure or the risks involved. They were most likely not informed about the development of the unborn baby inside of them. Abortion levels can decline if the high rate of unintended pregnancies is reduced or if more pregnant teens carry their pregnancy to term.It is widely acknowledged that such cases are rare; however, available data suggest that some commonly cited figures are exaggerated. Most abortions are done in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Causes of AbortionsHere are the list of the possible causes of Abortions :
