Head Lice Home Remedies

Head lice are small parasitic insects exquisitely adapted to living mainly on the scalp and neck hairs of their human host. Head lice are very common among young children, especially in child care centres and schools. Although head lice may be embarrassing and occasionally uncomfortable, they don't usually cause illness. However, they won't clear up on their own and should be treated promptly. To prevent infection: 1) avoid direct contact with the head, hair, clothing, or personal belongings of a person with head lice, and 2) treat affected persons, their contacts, and their households. Having head lice is very common. However, there are no reliable data on how many people get head lice in the United States each year. Head lice spread easily among children who are together in one place. There are various treatments, but whatever approach is used they can be a persistent or recurring nuisance.
